They started from humble begins way back in April 1985 with only their car insurance product on offer. Insurance was only available over the phone and was part of the revolution which saw traditional high street insurance brokers loose ground to a cheaper and more efficient way to shop for car insurance; over the phone. Direct Line was one of the first insurers to offer users the ability to get an insurance quote online and they remain hugely prominent in the UK’s insurance market.
